General
Q: XtendPlay feels different when I use it to play. Why is that?
A: XtendPlay’s patented TrueControl™ technology allows and encourages your hands and fingers to remain in a more relaxed position during game play. Because there’s never been a product like XtendPlay before, it necessarily feels different from the way you’re used to handling your controller.
Most folks immediately love the difference, while others have a short adjustment curve to overcome the ingrained muscle memory associated with bare-handing the controller. If you’re in the “adjustment curve” category, we’re confident you’ll be up to speed and playing better in no time.
Q: What do you mean by “more relaxed position” above?
A: If you hold your hands with your palms facing you in a naturally relaxed position, you won’t be making a fist, nor will your fingers be completely straight (i.e. karate-chop style). Your hand and finger muscles have to work to maintain either of those positions. When you’re using XtendPlay, the position of your fingers and hands most closely resembles the relaxed-hand position. In other words, your fingers and hands are working less when using XtendPlay, so the soreness and fatigue so often associated with game play are dramatically reduced.
The improved ergonomics afforded by XtendPlay more than offset the minor “adjustment curve” some users may experience. A few minutes using XtendPlay is usually all it takes to make you wonder why anyone would ever want to play without one.
Q: Is there a correct way to hold XtendPlay?
A: Indeed there is. Basically, if you're holding XtendPlay in such a way that your fingers can't reach the controller's thumbsticks and shoulder buttons, you're probably holding it too far toward its back side (the gently curved edge closest to your body when you use XtendPlay).
With your controller in XtendPlay, if you first place your fingers on the shoulder buttons the way you normally play, your ring- and pinky fingers will gently rest on the sloped front surface of XtendPlay's underside. Your hands should feel like they're
resting around XtendPlay, rather than gripping it.
Bottom line: if your hands are big enough to use a controller without XtendPlay, they're big enough to use one with XtendPlay.
Q: It seems a bit difficult to get my controller into XtendPlay. Why is that?
A: Because XtendPlay is designed to hold your controller for you, the controller fits into XtendPlay’s form-fitting cavity quite tightly. The snug fit prevents unwanted movement of the controller within XtendPlay. You may find that slightly “bending” or flexing XtendPlay to widen the controller cavity, and/or working one side in at a time, works well.
We're sure that once you use XtendPlay with your controller you won't want to take out!
Q: I have small hands, so will XtendPlay work for me?
A: There's a simple rule of thumb when it comes to hand size and XtendPlay: if you can use a standard controller without XtendPlay, you'll reap the benefits of using one with XtendPlay. Among the ranks of our satisfied customers are many tweens and teens who have hands half the size of the typical adult hand.
Q: Does XtendPlay reduce the feeling of vibration caused by controllers’ rumble packs?
A: No. In fact, because the controller fits so snugly into XtendPlay’s controller cavity, the rumble effect is transmitted across a bigger surface area.
Q: What is fleXlite™?
A: XtendPlay’s proprietary fleXlite™ material is a light-weight, soft-touch, closed-cell foam blend with amazing properties. It’s extremely durable with very high tear strength, is non-absorbent, antimicrobial, phthalate free, PVC free, AZO-dye free, and has insignificant metal content. Additionally, it’s flame resistant (FMVSS Standard 302), very chemical resistant, and very UV stable.
Q: How much does XtendPlay weigh?
A: Not much! XtendPlay for PlayStation and Xbox 360 each weigh a little over 5 ounces.
Q: What’s the best way to clean my XtendPlay?
A: XtendPlay’s fleXlite™ foam body should require very little maintenance, but if you decide it could use a cleaning we recommend using a mild soap-and-water solution.
Q: Do skins or stickers work with XtendPlay?
A: Yes! XtendPlay's flat top side provides ample space for personalizing or customizing with skins or stickers. Top skins maker Fathead.com sells removable/reusable sports-themed Tradeables, for example, that work well with XtendPlay.
